Replacement Printer for USD Motorola Telenetics / MOT202T Modem
The Universal Data Systems (UDS) Motorola MT202T Modem (also known as the Telenetics 202T Modem) features built-in diagnostic and anti-streaming capabilities. The anti-streaming capability prevents a modem from remaining in the transmit mode when the modem is not actively transmitting data and as such this can be used for a wide range of applications, such as informing station houses of 911 emergencies.
Traditionally connected to an RS232 serial dot matrix printer connected to the machine’s DB25 serial port, as printer technology moves away from dot matrix printers, finding a suitable replacement can be difficult.
The Retro-Printer module acts as a printer emulator and can be used as an interface between the 202T Modem and a printer. We have previously provided a Retro-Printer module to a 911 operator, allowing them to automatically trigger an email with the job details, as well as simulataneously sending the printout to a remote network printer.
Electronic copies of the incoming jobs can be stored electronically as a PDF, and as such ,this solution completely replaces the original dot matrix printer with a modern solution, at better value for money.
If you want to replicate this type of approach to modernise your use of the USD Motorola MT202T Modem, please get in touch.
