Recycling Information
The Retro-Printer (and all of RWAP Software products) is of course also designed to bring new life to early home computers and industrial equipment; extending their life-span by providing them with access to modern printers; which is much preferable to replacing costly equipment and software just so that you can print out.Although we would prefer to see equipment continue to be in use, or passed on to someone else to use, as a responsible producer and online retailer, RWAP Software is a member of the WEEE recycling scheme. Also, having spent many years improving the environment through practical conservation work, we don’t want to see all of our hard work put to waste!
What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items.
Why recycle?
Unwanted electrical equipment is fastest growing type of waste in most countries.
Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle electrical equipment it will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.
We’re proud to support UK local authorities in providing local recycling facilities for electrical equipment.
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with this symbol) in your bin.
How is it best to recycle a Retro-Printer Module?
In the first instance, if you no longer require your Retro-Printer Module (or have an earlier version and wish to upgrade to a later model), you can return your Retro-Printer Module to us for disposal, or, if still working, you can offer them for sale through online marketplaces, such as SellMyRetro.com.
In relation to any items returned to us, we will aim to repair these (yes we still use soldering irons) and offer them for resale on the second hand market. We can also offer a replacement of the latest version of the Retro-Printer Module at a discounted price and will refund the costs of sending your original to us.
If you would prefer not to return the Retro-Printer Module to us, then your local authority will run a local WEEE recycling scheme to allow you to recycle your electrical and electronic devices free at your local recycling centre. As a responsible producer, we also support these local recycling schemes through membership of the national Distributor Take-back scheme (DTS).
