Replacement Printer for Perkin Elmer Wizard Detector Wallac Gamma Counter

Perkin Elmer 1470 Wizard Gamma Counter

Perkin Elmer 1470 Wizard Gamma Counter

The Perkin Elmer Wizard Detector Wallac Gamma Counter comes in different shapes and sizes and can have up to 10 detectors, with up to 1,000 samples at a time.

It is used by laboratories to detect the activity of gamma radiation samples and supports both Epson FX and HP PCL3 printer output, which on some models can be connected to the machine’s parallel port and on other models is connected to the machine’s serial port.  The machines output numerous report types, but as printer technology moves away from dot matrix printers, finding a suitable replacement can be difficult.

The Retro-Printer module can be used as an interface between the Gamma counter and a printer.  We have previously provided a Retro-Printer module to hospital trusts and universities to allow them to capture the counts output as a PDF for electronic filing, whilst still being able to print the output from the machine on a modern USB or network printer.

To date it has been used successfully with both the Perkin Elmer Series II CHNS/O analyzer (connects via 25 pin serial port) and the Perkin Elmer 1470 WIZARD Gamma Counter

If you want to replicate this type of approach to modernise your use of the Beckman Coulter LS 6500 Liquid Scintillation Counter, please get in touch.
